Seminar: Health and medicine museums are good for you

Venue: The Harry Daly Museum, Australian Society of Anaesthetists, North Sydney

The seminar is open to conference attendees and all other interested people. It will focus on the use of collections to engage audiences through, for example, exhibitions, websites, etc. The main emphasis will be on sharing ideas suitable for small and/or volunteer-managed health and medicine museums.

This event presents a series of papers about psychiatric history and the history of psychiatry. Papers address a variety of themes, including methodological and theoretical discussions of mental health histories, transnational and local perspectives from the 19th century, lessons and examples from Indonesian psychiatry, mental health practices in wartime, Catholic traditions and the closure of institutions in the 1970s in Italy.
