Speakers

Dr Sharron Phillipson and Dr Lesleigh Brown

Dr Lesleigh Brown and Dr Sharron Phillipson Dr Lesleigh Brown and Dr Sharron Phillipson specialise in cosmetic medicine and have many years' experience in this field. Dr Phillipson is the founding president of The Australiasian Society of Cosmetic Medicine and sits on a variety of medical boards. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Laser Surgery. Both doctors are members of the International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons and The Australiasian College of Phlebology. Both doctors are founding fellows of the Australasian College of Aesthetic Medicine. (www.aestheticmedicine.org.au) They are fully trained in the techniques of laser resurfacing, sclerotherapy, wrinkle reduction therapy and the most up to date methods of eliminating skin blemishes including wrinkles, pigmentation, moles and other skin lesions.

Associate Professor Lee Collins

Associate Professor Lee Collins

Lee is currently Director of the Medical Physics Department at Westmead Hospital. His interests are in laser and ionising radiation safety, radiology, and nuclear medicine.

He has worked in hospitals in Australia and the UK, and during a research appointment in Germany, became interested in laser applications in medicine. He now lectures on medical laser technology, bioeffects and safety, is Chairman of the Standards Australia medical laser committee (which is responsible for AS/NZS 4173), and is involved with drafting international laser safety standards for the International Electrotechnical Commission as an Australian representative.

He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2003, and is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Medical Radiation Science at the University of Sydney and Conjoint Associate Professor in the School of Medicine, Universities of Western Sydney and Notre Dame Australia.


Dr Vilma Dimaria

Dr Vilma Dimaria

Dr Vilma Di Maria is a GP with a particular interest indermatology and aesthetic medicine. Vilma is an expert in the use of anti-ageing injections such as wrinkle relaxants and dermal fillers. She is a Medical Educator at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and an international trainer for Allergan Health Care, teaching GP's and Medical Registrars about the use of injectables. Vilma also conducts skin checks and treats a variety of skin problems and women's health issues.


Dr Gilly Munavalli

Dr Gilly Munavalli

Dr. Gilly Munavalli is board certified in dermatology as well as fellowship-trained in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatology surgery at the University of California- San Francisco. He is on the part-time faculty at the Johns Hopkins U. School of Medicine. His previous degrees include: Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Masters of Health Sciences from Johns Hopkins-Bloomberg School of Public Health, Doctorate of Medicine from Morehouse Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia, and internship training at the Mayo Clinic. He completed his dermatology residency training at Emory University School of Medicine.

While his primary focus is skin cancer treatment and phlebology in Charlotte, NC at Dermatology, Laser, and Vein Specialists of the Carolinas (www.carolinaskin.com), Dr. Munavalli continues to teach part-time at Johns Hopkins University in the Department of Dermatology.

Dr Paul Varcoe M.B., B.S., FACP, MBA (Lausanne)
Dr Varcoe established The Leg Vein Clinic in Broadbeach in 1995 and is a Fellow and a past Vice President of The Australasian College of Phlebology (ACP). He has presented scientific papers at numerous ACP Meetings and has also presented at the World Congress in Phlebology in Italy. He has an ongoing role in the education of doctors in this field taking on trainees and preceptors.
