Taking some time with Inge Meggitt

This week on 'Taking some time with', we are meeting with DCC&A's Operations Manager, Inge Meggitt

Q: Tell us a little bit about your role at DCC&A

As Operations Manager my role is to oversee the conference management teams and some of the company operations. I love working with the clients who work in challenging fields and are all passionate about what they do, and it energises the whole project planning process.

Q: What has been your greatest challenge? And achievement?

I find this very hard to answer as there have been many highlights and challenges. Being involved in major events such as Corroboree 2000 and CHOGM 2001 have been extremely challenging and rewarding at the same time. But then there are the smaller association meetings where volunteers come together with such a passion for their field is also very rewarding.

Q: What’s your favourite book? Can you give us a plot overview?

Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

This book captivated me. It is about a circus that pops up only at night, without warning, and is filled with interesting characters and guests. I am waiting for Tim Burton to make it into a movie as it was so beautifully told, in such bright colours, I could almost see the movie in my mind.

Q: Cats or dogs?

Dogs definitely. I do like cats, but I am allergic to them, and who can resist the completely unfiltered love a dog gives you?

Q: Have you taken up any hobbies or learned new skills in quarantine?

I started ‘paint by numbers’ as I am no artist, but I enjoy the almost meditative feel of delving into the canvas. Even if I am cheating! Most recently I have started volunteering once a week at the local Food Bank. I tried to do this earlier in the year but there were too many volunteers so I guess you could say I am the second wave of fresh volunteers.
