COVID Safety Onsite

The Rehabilitation Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand, the 2022 RMSANZ Conference Secretariat, DCC&A, and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC), Queensland is focused on ensuring the health and wellbeing of all conference delegates. While we are very excited to finally be connecting in person again, we want to remind all delegates that some parts of the conference will look a little different than the last time we met face to face. 

Please note, these protocols will undergo regular review and will be updated in line with Government recommendations.

Before attending RMSANZ 2022

All delegates are required to monitor their own health and wellbeing. If you are feeling unwell, have been in close contact of a confirmed case, have the slightest of symptoms or are COVID-19 positive, please do not attend RMSANZ 2022.

If you are unable to travel between Tuesday 7 - Friday 10 June due to you being COVID-19 positive or being considered a close contact, the RMSANZ will offer a credit towards registration for RMSANZ 2023. Please provide documentation in support of your claim e.g. from your GP or employer, to the Conference Secretariat.  

Onsite at RMSANZ 2022

  • Hand sanitisers and antibacterial wipes will be readily available throughout the venue including in the exhibition and session rooms.
  • Attendee numbers will be monitored, and some conference sessions may be limited based on room size and the existing regulations. 
  • No handheld microphones will be available for delegate use during Q&A portions of the breakout sessions. This year, all questions must be sent through the conference app only.
  • GCCEC will adhere to current social distancing protocols and provide regular cleaning and sanitising in public areas.
  • Conference Secretariat staff will be wearing masks at the registration desk.
  • The GCCEC’s COVID safe practices include:
    • Encouraging at least 1.5 metres between individuals
    • Maintaining good hand and respiratory hygiene
    • Regular cleaning and disinfecting of venue
    • Communication, consultation, instruction, training, and supervision of team
    • Hygiene reminder messaging throughout venue

Delegates Responsibilities

Mask Wearing

We strongly encourage all delegates to wear masks throughout the conference. Additional masks are available from the registration desk if you forget yours or need a replacement throughout the week. 

What to do if you become unwell during RMSANZ 2022

We strongly encourage all delegates to bring a few Rapid Antigen Tests with them. If you become unwell during your time in Queensland, please do not attend the conference or visit the RMSANZ 2022 Registration Desk.

COVID-19 Positive Delegates

What to do first

Firstly, please do not leave your hotel room and do not come back to the conference. 

Delegates who test positive to COVID-19 whilst in Queensland must isolate in suitable accommodation for 7 days from the date of their positive test. They must call the Queensland Public Health on 134 COVID (134 268) to register their case.

Guest staying at Avani Broadbeach, Dorsett Gold Coast and Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel

Should hotel guests tested positive during their stay at any of the three hotels above, they will be required to self-isolate in their room pending accommodation availability and advise the hotel immediately. The hotel will provide all assistance to those guests completely contact free until they are able to relocate home or choose to move to a government isolation facility.

Accommodation is subject to availability and will be at guests own costs.

Guest still need to contact Queensland Public Health on 134 COVID (134 268) to register their case.

Other Local Hotels

Delegates who have booked accommodation elsewhere, will need to contact their hotel directly to find out if they can continue to stay on there, or if they will need to be moved to a dedicated quarantine hotel.

Quarantine Hotels

If COVID-19 positive delegates are unable to secure suitable accommodation, then they need to contact Queensland Public Health to be placed in a designated quarantine facility.
